      Good Work Environment

      Pros

      Friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable co-workers Excellent supervisors who provide as much information, support, and problem resolution as they can Safe and clean work environment (within reason - it's a manufacturing facility, so some hazards and detritus from processes to be expected) 4-on/4-off 12-hr work schedule for floor employees

      Cons

      No sense of job security due to history of layoffs, closing of US plants, and opening of facilities in cheaper labor markets (i.e. China and India) As in most companies today, the pervasive impression that next quarter's profits for investors, and officer's salaries/bonuses, are paramount, despite (or perhaps as a result of) assertions to the contrary

      An overall good place to work; I traditionally prefer small to medium size companies and Commscope is now a large co.

      Pros

      Interesting to work at a company that actually produces real software and hardware (unlike many "engineering" companies that only produce lots of paper). Interesting technologies especially in the area of wireless communications. The executive officers really seem to be in it for the long haul, not just to package the company for a sell-off and jump out with the proverbial golden parachute. The company seems to truly be moving toward more of a systems/solutions provider rather than just being a widget manufacturer, this should bode well for its future.

      Cons

      A marked increase in heavy-handed, top-down control of budgets, hiring, benefits, etc. Probably as a result of the crumby economy and the need to conserve cash, but it makes the company feel more and more like a behemoth with excessive top-down control and bureaucracy.

      Pros

      Well run company with management decisionmaking that is best for company overall versus what is best for management. Excellent cash management.

      Cons

      Some limitation for advancement as there is a definite ceiling here. Some old school legacy management still playing the good old boy games.
