Pay is mediocre, they will layoff employees for many different reasons without hesitation. They've done it in the past just to boost return for the shareholders and to give millions to the CEO. There are tons of layers of management and executives and businesses within businesses (Rohr dab Goodrich dba Collins dba Raytheon Technologies, etc). They've laid off employees for normal reasons too like lack of new programs due to COVID-19. Basically you're just a number here, not a person. You're a resource. It's cold, but if you don't mind, they're not rude about it, they consider you like a hammer, you're a tool with utility, you're not like a nice family photos that they'd hold sentimental value for, if you ever lose your usefulness (no matter how close to retirement), you're deleted and replaced (or not). There are some exceptional managers that break this trend, but they are exceptional, not typical at this company. Still with all the cons, I really like working here. I don't mind the cons that much compared with the pros, especially for the work-life balance in my department.
