Pros

I have been at Coach for 5+ years. The company used to be a great place to work, but has gone downhill significantly in culture and business performance.

Cons

The top senior executives, management, and worker bees who built the company all left or are on their way out. The people who are left have changed coach to a political and backstabbing culture. Everybody is out for themselves b/c business is bad. Not a good place to be anymore.

Pros

No good reasons to work at Coach, except that the customer service training was good.

Cons

Terrible management. Insecure. They like people who don't have anything going for them, and no options. If you have a college degree they are very skeptical you will leave. They will have someone with no experience and no education as your manager because they don't want to hire the best candidate, but the candidate that they feel they can control, and is Gun-ho about the job because they know Coach is the only job they can get. "We feel you think this is a filler job." My response: Of course I have other things going on, I'm only here 32 hours a week. Very into micromanaging. Nazis about the dress code. Management mostly talks about nothing, they talk just to talk to feel as if they are managing. At the end of the day for $13 an hour, it is so not worth it.

Pros

Reasonable pay, was basically offered what I asked for.

Cons

I have never encountered such awful, petty people in my life. As a new hire to the company, I was never given a proper chance to excel. I was given a poor on boarding, over 7 days, and then was expected to assume a well seasoned management role. I understand that a lot of learning comes from experience, but to have every single misstep documented is not the correct way to teach someone. In my interview, I was told that I would be leading with a team of managers who fostered positive, family environment. This couldn't be further from the truth. Everyone, other managers included, simply looks out for themselves. One of the perks I was told about was a work/life balance. No such thing exists. I understand that it's retail, and I know you have to schedule for the business, but there is no reason that I should be at work until 10pm every Friday and Saturday of the month when there is a team of 5 managers. The store manager bullies all of the associates and the managers, she . And the district manager? She says she is available for anything we may need, however, simply ignores emails.
