Pros

Cisco is a great place to work that pays very well. Expect the goaling to be high, the stress for achieving to be high, and the compensation is also high. Cisco is a market leader and technology innovator that is highly respected in the technology industry. It is very easy to get appointments with IT staff and senior management with your Cisco credentials.

Cons

Promotions and advancement limited. Hard to balance work/family.

Pros

Cisco is a great name to have on your CV. Represents a good opportunity to meet lots of big customers and do some big deals.

Cons

This is one arrogant company. The general view is that we should feel very lucky to be here, and that staff are expendable. There is no real opportunity to progress, you can only get on by sucking up to the right people. Praise for doing a good job does not exist. The company is making the job as hard as it can in a tough environment, in the hope that people walk, as they have over recruited already and don't want to make people redundant. UK management team are not industry leaders, just yes men to the US and only understand management metrics for monitoring staff. The people who have been doing a good job successfully for years get over looked and taken for granted, while the self promoting "connected" brown nosers get promoted. Was once good, now like every other big slow arrogant beast.

Pros

It's a huge company now so you have good stability and they have a great severance package even if you do get laid off. There are so many different product lines to sell at Cisco, that you never get bored and are always learning new things.

Cons

There is NO work life balance. If you're in sales, you have weekly commits that are not good for the customers or the sales people. A lot of political BS....give it another 5 years and it will be just like IBM. The fist and second level management is, for the most part, quite weak.
