Pros

Certain departments are okay to work for. Claims, underwriting and A&H can be good, stay away from AR and HR.

Cons

-Money is lower than what is paid everywhere else for the same job. -manager doesn't know how to manage anything or anyone -day before public holiday you are supposed to be allowed to leave work at 2 pm but manager specifically told me once " oh thats not for us we have to work till 6pm atleast" -there is no overtime pay even though you are expected to work 15hr days - manager has been with the company for 20 yrs so no one cares about the abuse she puts the employees through and HR is actually in on it, its wild. -mental health stand point someone should really investigate certain departments. - new CO is so clueless its wild -there are 2 people in the same department doing the same job for 20+ yrs with no advancement - everyone leaves or is waiting to leave -the depression you get from working in a department where you manager demeans you, overworks you, only promotes her favorites, where your colleagues abuse you but if you complain you are viewed as the problem. No matter how hard you work or how many hours you work your manager doesn't care. -work here if you want to be underpaid and under appreciated. - so many hard working people have quit or moved departments because the manager and AR department is a black hole where you happiness comes to die. There was one employee who worked so hard, she was forced to go everyday into the office during the pandemic, the manager wouldn't make her permanent, devalued her job constantly, and more importantly she was being verbally abused by another employee and the manager blamed her for it and made an environment where she was forced to leave. She took the high road and left because even HR wouldn't support her. They tried to disperse her work for 3 months without hiring someone, ended up giving all the work to another person. So much for this postion can never be permanent. No one will acknowledge how wrongly this person was treated. - and by far the worst culprit is HR, they ignore very apparent signs of distress from employees, lie to them, and will pretend like they are doing so well, brag about retention rate while knowing that people feel stuck but can't quit because of the pandemic and its affecting everyone's mental health.

Pros

The pay was on the higher end of the range for the industry and vacation time was generous relative to other companies. Most of the local management was actively engaged in assisting and supporting the employees reporting to them. Company values diversity and tends to favor internal promotion in many cases. Offered a variety of solid benefits packages that could be tailored to individual needs with relative ease.

Cons

Disorganization, stemming from frequent changes in company policy, organizational structure, processes, software, direction of workflow, and personnel. If you are salaried it is difficult to treat this as a 9-5 job without falling behind. Expect to put in 55-65 on a regular basis. Prior to COVID, working remotely was limited. Company policy was inconsistent on this point, as some departments allowed for only 1 day per week remote while others allowed for 2, and some made exemptions for almost exclusively remote. While you get a relatively nice number of vacation days to start out, taking vacation time is difficult as it often results in a massive backlog of work upon your return. Depending on how busy the time you were absent was it could take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks to get fully caught up.

Pros

Younger workforce so is good place to feel part of team

Cons

Managers not suited to roles, poor remuneration and nil work life balance despite them having a policy. The nuc is really bad with high turnover and excessive work volume. It is a sink or swim environment. Ineffective managers who would stab you in the back to make themselves look good. Definitely not the place to go, its just not worth it. The list of cons could go on and on.
