Pros

Good work / personal life balance No boss(es) on your back all the time Freedom to develop your job "Training" - kind of a joke really A paycheck

Cons

No communication at all - management to workers, workers to management, even between sectors. A client pays for a service, and expects that service to be developed throughout time, but Capgemini Spain does absolutely nothing. They hire young, idealistic workers, pay them too little, squeeze the best out of them, and throw them away. It took me over a month to understand what I needed to do in my job - my superiors had NO idea what I was going to do. I was without supervision - noone had any idea what I was doing in the project. Clients - they only care if their numbers are red or not. I've heard numerous stories from the Service Desks in Capgemini of operational managers coming over to agents on the phones and hanging up on clients so that the numbers won't go red. Instead of SOLVING the problems YOU pay for, they just care that they are meeting the Service Level Agreements. Expect to pay for a whole lot of nothing, they will say YES to whatever you ask for to your face, then turn around and do whatever they want with your money. When asked about a headcount in our office, noone knew how many people were supposed to be working there! All they had is a fixed budget - lets say 15,000 euros a month. And if they could hire 2 people to cover the service, they did. If they needed 15 to cover the service, they would hire 15. The BARE MINIMUM to meet service levels. CLIENTS OF CAPGEMINI SPAIN - Ask for DETAILLED reports to where your money is going!! In 2008, when Capgemini Spain was having issues with its Banking sector, it formed part of the Outsourcing sector for a few months then split off again, surely to do some magical number trick to hide where the money is going!! Once, before a high level meeting with a potential client that Capgemini Spain was trying to win a global bid (and later lost, I wonder why...) they put down new floors and invested into the building in Madrid (Edificio Cedro). Before we had STAINED disgusting carpet! Their response to combat swine flu was to put antibacterial gel in the hallways where the elevators are that CLEARLY state: Using this gel is no more effective than washing your hands. WHY SPEND THE MONEY THEN?? (Idiots! Waste of money!) The machines to swipe a card to go in or out of the building that also DON'T WORK and you can just say "Please open for me" and the receptionists will open the doors for you! (Total lack of security). The building is WITHOUT proper air conditioning - every summer it is a SAUNA in the office, people complain and threaten to leave, we have to come in wearing shorts!! When they DO finally fix the air conditioning the electricity goes out!!! Since I have been there, many high level clients have been lost - an American pharmaceutical company, a French supermarket, an American car company has downsized, a national post office firm has downsized, a Swiss HR firm is moving over a third of their operations to Argentina... CAPGEMINI SPAIN IS A SINKING SHIP!! THINK BEFORE INVESTING YOUR MONEY WITH THEM!! Well they hire people at varied levels. In our office we had senior consultants being paid 18,000 a year and regular consulants being paid 23,000 euros a year. Why the difference? Because they don't have clear levels of responsibility/pay/title. The people that are paid less get upset and DO NOTHING. They sit around and read the paper, refusing to work. But ALSO RAISES ARE SUBJECTIVE! To get a raise, your boss has to evaluate you - so be your bosses BEST FRIEND because he/she will be the only person to evaluate you. Forget facts like "rose participation 18% in the last year" - NO. It will be "how hard of a worker is John?" and whatever your boss puts, that is "fact". Mafia-style! Those that are worth anything look for other jobs and leave Capgemini Madrid after they realize that is a circus sideshow full of chaos, where there is no rhyme or reason to anything. Those that stay.... get promoted. So you have upper management filled with those that don't think, nod and say yes, and are basically puppets. Forget innovation. And a note - those that were worth something were already cut in 2008 with the massive overhaul and restructuring plan that led to a PAY FREEZE - that's right. The whole building had a pay freeze in 2008, so if you gave more money to Capgemini Spain that year, that went into their pockets because the employees did not see any of it. Our Christmas celebration... we got a GLASS OF CHAMPAGNE. That's right. ONE GLASS of champagne and had our CEO talk about what an awful year we had and how it is going to get worse.... way to motivate!! In the end, I would not work for Capgemini Spain again, EVER, nor recommend anyone else to work there, in fact, I would actively encourage them to look somewhere else. I would tell potential clients of Capgemini Spain TO BE WARNED - ask for receipts and transparency. You get what you pay for....
