Pros

Many nice people at work but can be very clique-y. Lots of job experience. Lots of coaching.

Cons

Coaching to the point of being annoying. Emphasis on sales, sales, sales. Selling to people who can't afford the products is encouraged. Boring contests that don't pay out. When people win the big across-Canada contests they have to pay a ton of taxes on the prize. Management can be secretive and sneaky There is no privacy for you if you do any banking there,...they talk amongst themselves about your transactions. Lots of high-school drama and gossip. Some places managed better than others. I worked at 2 branches....the management at one of them was phony, mean, and nasty, and the other was fantastic, kind, and well-liked. The payscale compared to other banks is the lowest.

Pros

My coworkers are great people. The client relationships I've built in the 2 years I've worked at CIBC are amazing. Excellent hours and stability.

Cons

Unfortunately young kids are hired into roles they are not ready for. It's a big gap for CIBC. Management is not very understanding when it comes to your personal life either. If you communicate to your superior that you, in fact, do not want to absorb responsibilities of another role (that you will not properly be compensated for) guess what? It will be pushed on you. Without training. And with 5 people telling you 5 different ways of doing said role.
