Pros

CBRE has a strong commitment to ethics, employee development, and in general treating customers/employees well. Overall experience has been positive with the company

Cons

CBRE is a huge global corporation, and it's difficult to see all the metaphorical levers-gears turning to know what's really going on. Can be overwhelming/confusing for those in the trenches to know what the people at the top of the food chain are doing, even with the corporate comms program. The basic question being..."Why are these people in my inbox, and why do their emails impact me?"

Pros

Good pay, good bonus, great team of people that do the same work as you remodeling retail stores so we can crowd source info, commiserate together, etc.

Cons

Extensive travel and since my peers are all dispersed throughout the country and leadership works from home it can sometimes feel like you’re on an island. After a heavy construction season and traveling every week for 6 months straight it’s hard to feel valued and it feels like you’re just a cog in the wheel. There are internal employees of the client that do the same work and in this current climate we just experienced some lay offs and as contractors we are the first to go so there is a lack of job security. We are constantly challenged to make us seem like an invaluable asset but that’s driven by leadership and can come at a cost, leadership wants to maintain their position as directors of the account, but we are the foot soldiers responsible for actually doing the work. Also the client chooses your general and fixture contractors which some are sub par so it’s a ton of added work to support a project that goes sideways because of that.
