Pros

Broadcom offers you a substantial amount of RSUs when you get hired.

Cons

It’s hard to describe how soulless this organisation is. - Hock Tan’s only purpose is to increase share prices and to make stakeholders happy. Nothing else matters and that is why Broadcom only sees costs when it comes to employees. - There are no benefits or any sort of initiative to increase employee happiness. - The pay is not great either, the only reason people stay is due to the RSU they received. - DEI does not matter and the company does not have a talent acquisition function so managers just hire whoever they want. - HR is literally non-existent, they have like 1 or 2 persons for the entire EMEA region. - The tools and processes they use are also quite old fashioned, it really doesn’t feel like you work for a tech company. - No remote opportunity, they force you to go into the office, even if you were on a remote contract before in the company they acquired. - Like others have suggested, Broadcom is like a leech on the tech industry: they acquire a company, get rid of all BUs that Hock Tan is not interested in and milk the rest for profit until the product dies or all customers are driven away. Then they rinse and repeat. Their latest victim has now been VMware. A company that did great on the business front but still took great care of its employees is now complete gone. I’ve come through with the VMware acquisition and seeing the contrast between the two companies was shocking. VMware has clearly been the better company but instead taking this as an opportunity to learn, Broadcom completely dissolved VMW’s culture and anything that made it a good company to work for. The only reason I’m giving 2 stars is due to the fact that me severance package was quite generous, although this is thanks to the worker’s council who negotiated the conditions and it’s not Broadcom’s generosity. Overall, I’d advise anyone to stay working for Broadcom. Unless you want to work for an organisation that lacks culture and character and its sole purpose is to function as a money making machine for its stakeholders. If that’s your vibe, you should go for it, otherwise stay away.
