Pros

Quoting another reviewer here: "Reasons to work at Boeing: 1) you want your advanced education fully-paid by the company 2) you have external activities that require a lot of time and you do not need work interfering 3) you just need a paycheck 4) you are incompetent and cannot cut it working intelligently or effectively elsewhere"

Cons

Lots of incompetent managers, employees, and contractors. Too many employees who do not like what they do but stay because of low expectations from them. Lack of tools, vision, planning, processes, and innovation. Good benefits are distributed to all evenly (not based on the individual contribution) and so the base pay cannot be used to attract and retain a good talent.

Pros

Pay is good. Benefits are great. There is work/life balance. There is the opportunity to have multiple careers within one company, depending upon your discipline. The company is a huge supporter of continuing education and provides an abundance of resources.

Cons

Very political. Many opportunities are dependent upon who you know as opposed to being the right person for the job. It is difficult to implement change or new ideas to help the business because it's not 'aligned with how they have always done it.' There is also a strong culture of entitlement that acts a roadblock as well. There is a lot of redundancy that is perpetuated through the lack of clear and consistent communication throughout all levels of management. The systems are outdated and necessarily communicate with others which make the process of analyzing data manual at times.

Pros

Boeing is a world class company that invests in the training and resources to enable employees to do their jobs well. I have worked at other large and small aerospace companies. Boeing, by a far margin, has its act together the best of them all. There is never a lack of interesting and challenging programs and jobs available to capable employees.

Cons

You can get pigeonholed into a position that can limit your mobility within the company. Senior engineers are encouraged to take lead positions that might be too much work for the individual or be outside of their expertise or ability. Also, occasionally the wrong person rises into management who turns a group into a toxic fiefdom that is a gulag of overtime, unmet unreasonable expectations and poor performance reviews. To Boeing's credit, those managers do not last too long and often find themselves taking non-management positions.
