Pros

In my 20 plus years at Boeing (all non factory work) it took forever to get my salary up to a reasonable level, but once I did, I was happy. I got to work with incredibly smart people 99% of the time. Most everyone really wanted to do a good job and accomplish great things. People shared tips, tricks, best practices and learning. I had a great boss who gave me challenging work.

Cons

Executive decisions were often incredibly stupid. We were once told that we had to take a 10% geographic move across our org to get people outside of WA State. My IT org needed proximity to the factory to rapid troubleshoot apps running on 5 axis machine tools. Their idiotic plan put production at risk because of politics. Senior management fights so bad over who gets credit for a cost saving idea that they don't get implemented.

Pros

The 401(k) match is nice (10%). Generally, the people I have worked with have been helpful and kind. Stable career, as Boeing is essentially a true example of "Too Big to Fail".

Cons

Pay is subpar and you will not keep with the market unless you job hop. My friends who got promoted to my level after me were instantly making 10% more, and management does not care. Boeing is also full of older employees and incompetent (out of touch) leadership that is completely resistant to change. They do not care about their employees. People bring up concerns, and when nothing changes, management is shocked when our attrition rate is 40%. Yes, forty. They treat younger employees like they are under qualified and then need help connecting to WiFi ten minutes later. I'm counting down the days so I won't have to pay back my relocation (46). If you want a company with people trapped in the 80's, gladly work for this second place aerospace manufacturer. Second place in a duopoly.

Pros

Originally Boeing offered good healthcare, work life balance and education benefits. However these have been slowly eroded over time and are far less of a pro vs other comparable companies.

Cons

Current CEO and CFO are from General Electric and are using the same tactics they learned from Jack Welch. Forced stack ranking of bottom 10% of employees, outsourcing entire groups (including engineering) and functions, moving entire teams to other states. Leadership is entirely focused on their next quarters bonuses and will be leaving before major impacts are visible to their short term cost cutting. Leaders are not from Boeing and do not care about the people that work here. Are there development projects or are the current designs being milked into oblivion, with no future? Meanwhile Airbus and new competitors will continue to take market share. Thus experienced analysts, low and mid tier managers are leaving for greener pastures.
