Pros

Some projects are good but again depends under which TC you are in

Cons

The most dumb thing is that if an Employee Gets a Outstanding rating in 2023 then that person will get promoted only in March 2025. A pathetic policy in a 334 year old company. The hard part is getting Outstanding rating in Barclays for the work in 2023 . After that give 1 technical interview and then 1 values round in 2024 which is more hard since they treat us like external candidates in these interviews and we need to answer all the questions to pass these 2 rounds After getting Outstanding rating in 2023 and after Clearing 2 hard interviews in 2024 the Reality is that Employee will get promoted in March 2025 !!!! What is the point of giving the promotion if the wait is soo long after the employee works so hard with dedication ?

Pros

Good pay. Some flexibility. My team was lovely but cannot be said about all.

Cons

I have never met an HR/ payroll team who lack as much empathy as this one for the UK payroll does. I have had countless run ins with them where they have been absolutely useless, not sending letters for details that I quite clearly need (when sick pay might run out, when I left outlining final pay). They don’t bother to reply for days or even a week or 2 and when they do it is usually the most useless drivel. The final nail in the coffin is they underpaid me in my final pay - I requested my payslip ahead of payday to not get it for over a week as they kept telling me it would be available in the portal (which is only accessible by employees!). Now 3 weeks later after stressful back and forth they are telling me I need to wait an extra week for my underpayment that was their fault even though they had told me a manual payment would be processed. No care, empathy or desire to help whatsoever.

Pros

There are no pros to this disgrace of a department

Cons

My experience at Barclays has been deeply disappointing, primarily due to the misleading nature of the role and the toxic work environment. 1. Misleading Role: The position was advertised as a mortgage expert role, but in reality, it turned out to be nothing more than a call center job. This bait-and-switch approach led to a significant loss of trust from the outset. 2. Toxic Management: The management style here is nothing short of bullying. Managers create a culture of fear rather than support, constantly threatening employees and showing little regard for their well-being. This hostile environment made it incredibly difficult to perform even basic tasks. They time your toilet breaks & watch every single thing you do 3. Terrible Bonus Structure: The bonus scheme is a joke. Despite high expectations and relentless pressure to meet targets, the bonuses offered are far from competitive, leaving you feeling underappreciated and undervalued. 4. Overwhelming Workload: The workload is shockingly high, with unreasonable expectations placed on employees. This, combined with the lack of support, makes for an extremely stressful experience. 5. Lack of Team Spirit: There is no sense of camaraderie or team spirit. The threatening and unsupportive atmosphere fostered by management has destroyed any chance of collaboration or mutual respect among colleagues. 6. No Career Progression: There are no clear paths for career development or progression. The few opportunities that do exist are often handed out based on favoritism rather than merit, which is incredibly demoralizing. 7. High Staff Turnover: The misleading nature of the role led to nearly half of the workforce leaving once they realized they had been duped into a call center job. This high turnover is a clear indicator of the deep-seated issues within the company. In summary, working at Barclays has been a highly negative experience. The combination of a misrepresented role, toxic management, poor compensation, and a dreadful work environment makes this a place I cannot recommend.
