Pros

Good environment, various facilities like cab, which is very important, life insurance, medical insurance, although the amount is not sufficient because looking at the way medical inflation is risen. Company has really strong approach since new Ceo has come into picture C.S. Venkatesh who is great minded person and his present ideology about looking and focusing on non-volatile business is absolutely amazing. First time ever core level employees are included in the vision. Some people leaders are great but in my 8 years with Barclays I have seen most of them micro-managing.

Cons

Biggest flaw is that being British national company they would focus on colleagues in UK first. Company's one of the policies is empower but I believe there is something missing. Taking an example of people working for collections in UK vs. India. UK colleagues will have better defined shifts, but India works different shift. UK colleagues doing the same work have profile defined BA4 but for Indian colleagues BA3 which would mean we would have less access to support the customers even in terms of LOA. I understand about holidays that bank follows obviously British but we in India would still login on British holidays even when there is no work.

Pros

Salary above market average in the region. Very good employment benefits. Relative flexibility.

Cons

Micromanagement. Need to request access to everything. Legacy code and technologies. Environment where company needs to have control over everything, including restricting access to services like Spotify or regular websites like local restaurants (you need to request access to view the website). Be ready to chase people to get things done and be ready you will be chased. Requesting access to everything. No feeling of a team, people come to work to emotionlessly do their work and go home. Did I mention requesting access?

Pros

Decent benefits package and hybrid working

Cons

Toxic, unproductive work culture in tech.. now dominated by short termism, personal gain, information hoarding and a lack of physiological safety. For a supposedly British bank, offshoring jobs (or onshoring via dubious visas and Indian body shoppers) says everything you need to know about a culture focussed on profit and personal gain over people. Teams are now hugely distributed, don't trust each other and have every move governed by clipboard wielding managers who play politics. Productivity, efficiency and innovation has never been so bad.
