Pros

- Compensation and hikes are decent - Flexible timings and no dress code - Pretty good infrastructure

Cons

Cons specific to BT Bangalore - Few managers have bossy attitude and have little or no knowledge on how the project is being done technically. - No value given for SDLC or coding practices. Technically skilled people are often not recognized. - Lack of technical experts among leads. Not suitable for someone who is passionate about technology. - Poor project management and need to work on weekends and holidays without comp offs or additional pay. Work-Life balance is pretty much screwed up because of this. - No onsite opportunities.

Pros

Control of you own time and diary. Work varied. Great job if you're not wanting to feel part of the rat race constantly looking to grow and develop - the pay for what you have to do is very good. Not enough desks - pro and a con. When you want to work and feel part of a team, you can't because there's no space so you waste chunks of everyday trying to find somewhere to sit. Pro is because you could be working anywhere, you have the freedom to work anywhere without any expectations to be in a certain place.

Cons

Progression is slow - there are too many senior people in the team so no space to move up and lots of dull work to be done so learning opportunities are limited. If you do want to step up, it's almost impossible to do so. The desks - as above. There aren't enough for everyone! The culture is very, very bad. The MD of the group transformation team is all about hitting his own numbers and not at all about the people who are doing that for him. The attrition is high at the moment and the approach is recruit more and desperately hold on to people who are leaving (3months notice period if leaving BT all together. Sounds like just a storm of arguments if you try to move internally within BT and several people have felt bullied by the MD and some of his direct reports).
