Pros

New offices just by J1 of the M5.

Cons

New offices mean parking cars in some rough car parks ( many cars being stolen ) and people being mugged on way back to cars. An SMT that is stuck way back in the old days of NSB retail solutions - with all of the old school cliques and groups that have existed for years. This then gives a middle management that are simply mates with senior managers ( Promotional jobs NEVER advertised, but guys lined up ready for the promotion ) - so you had better be ready to play the game and become your managers best friend very quickly... play badminton with them, go the cinema with them, go out to lunch with them.... its the only way you'll get on. Outsourcing EVERY role they can to India - support director openly admitting that any leavers will be replaced by an offshore release wherever possible.. By a person who's only requirement is that they speak good English. So, a very demoralising environment to work in.

Pros

Good brand, good history, benefits better than average. Some great people work here, There are some good Managers among the "will do anything to get on" brigade which are unfortunately on the increase.

Cons

Performance Management (Not changed despite claims to the contrary) Smoke and mirrors with a pretence of a change. Openly told to "distribute" your team or be marked down, followed in the next breath by "there is no forced distribution". unregretted leavers replaced by "healthy churn" same thing disguised by including all forms of leavers, but focus on kicking people out and a witch hunt to ensure a certain number of so called "poor performers" are exited to meet targets. Pioneers programme is great, but its core principles are not observed from the top, why waste all that money if you have no intention implementing a genuine change from the top? And by the way, meritocracy does not mean spend one hour a week talking about who we can kick out and how the kicking out is progressing. Makes coming to work depressing,
