Pros

Working from home once a week

Cons

A toxic and nasty place to work. Management will smile and pretend to care about your needs when really they couldn't care less, if you show any sort of initiative you will be told it's not the way things are done here whilst a plan is made on how to mange you out of the business. BT doesn't have a redundancy scheme, instead headcount is reduced by marking down perfectly capable employees during performance management reviews in an attempt to 'manage you out'. I witnessed competent and experienced professionals being set up and 'caught out' by spineless cretins posing as management. Considering BT is a technology company the IT is extremely poor, employees are provided with ancient laptops and most meeting rooms have no teleconference facilities or screens. Furniture is old and shabby, desks are not set up correctly- a colleague of mine was reduced to using an Argos catalogue to raise his laptop as he was so uncomfortable. Despite allowing employees to work from home this by no means equals a good work/life balance as this is a a company managed by vile people who crawl inside your head meaning you never switch off, they are there chipping away everyday at any self confidence you may have left. Life is too short to spend in misery, do yourself a favour and do not have anything to do with this disgusting company. If you do choose to embark on a career at BT please take note that employee engagement surveys are definitely not anonymous.

Pros

1) Free transport if your CTC is less than 10LPA 2) Mobile and broadband reimbursemnt 3) can claim 50% 0r 15000 (whichever is less) for new mobile under BYOD

Cons

It starts with offer : -> Your offer letter wont have any logo. There wont be any proof that offer letter you are holding is yours and is not manipulated. When you will ask about this, you will get to hear this is how BT works and you should not care about these things as soon as you are getting money in hand When it comes to first day : -> Try going without printout of joining forms. HR will scold you like you are his/her slave :). They dont know how to behave properly also. Few HR's are good. They will tell you, you may leave :o When it comes to cafeteria food : 1) Utter waste. They will charge full money even if food is almost over or less. They will give you very strange looks if you ask extra spoon of rice. Food cost is 70/- but you can't take little extra rice also :D. 2) Vendors do change based on complaints but again similar vendor comes. 3) If you are thinking why not going outside ? Believe me outside stall is too much far. When it comes to facilities: 1) Cab driver will not wait for more than 1 min, that is written over mail. But you might be thinking its normal and ok. But again twist comes here, 90% of time they wont be on time and you will end up waiting 30-40 mins for cab :). Somethimes cab goes empty because of same reason. 2) You will be very lucky if your seat doesn't fall under ac. Ac temp is too low. You will be freezed. If complaint they will fix for the day. Next day complain again :). This happened with my friend and is still suffering 3) GYM -> only 3-4 instruments. If you just want to lose weight you can try. No trainer. WHEN IT COMES TO WORK 1) if you have habit of working 15-16 hours, its okay. Else you will develop it don't worry. 2) Few managers are good. Few will screw you. I developed backbone pain and specs here. 3) Never dare to ask on-site :) 4) When it comes to rating 4a) for managers : You will have the chance to rate your managers. CHEERS (y). But you cant , as managers will ask to give them 5 rating in a seperate team meeting. This is same throughout BT. And, you will be getting a team outing or lunch or dinner for that 4b) For you : Expect same rating even for more work. Expect question "what extra you have done apart from work ?" -> You wont get chance to do extra work as you wont be able to finish work in deadlne only, even after working in sat, sundays and nights 5) Dont dare to ask shift allowance :D, you may claim food and txprt -> only if you make you manager happy 6) Attrition rate is high bcoz of same reason. 7, 8 , 9.... Its very long. If you want to experiencer join BT :)

Pros

You can play the "BT game" to keep yourself appearing good without actually doing much. Play the game the way senior management want you to play it can keep you in a job for ever.

Cons

It's openly discussed that the strategy is to reduce headcount by 10% per year. This results in middle management only interested in passing responsibilities to other teams and cutting their own headcount. This maybe efficient when looking at your own team but taking a step back and looking at the bigger picture means you are passing expertise out to non experts actually causing inefficiency. Unfortunately, the middle managers that reduce their own headcount like this are the ones that are promoted. It also promotes a culture of fear, bullying and teams that are only interested in protecting themselves. Performance management has been implemented and is totally flawed. It is being used as a tool to find excuses to manage people out of the business. However, the teams themselves have learned how to fight back against HR and senior management so now spend all their days collecting stats and metrics that ensure they are protecting themselves from being managed out. Bullying is rife amongst senior and middle management. EIther the middle and lower management tow the line and manage people out of the business or face the chop themselves. Promotion or career pathways are non existent unless you are prepared to sell your soul. The company is currently cancerous, toxic and a horrible place to work. Best to avoid at all costs.
