Pros
BASF provides excellent benefits, has leading technology, and some really intelligent people that contribute to ongoing business success. Compensation is very good. Business Unit and the Segment / Division performance influence compensation. I was grateful for the opportunity to work across multiple markets and industries.
Cons
Sales and Marketing at BASF are very challenging positions with many factors out of your control. Manufacturing performance and raw material drivers have enormous impacts on your ability to achieve objectives. Although these factors are dynamic, your goals are not, so prepare for that if pursuing these roles. They recognize the importance of collaboration. Some groups just aren't necessarily willing collaborators all the time. Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Purchasing seem to have more power within BASF. Sales is expected to support these other groups without question. As a Sales professional, a great deal of time was spent managing problems that directly impacted customers due to actions or decisions made by these groups. It seemed we were very internally focused.
