      Things have changed for the worse with new CEO

      Pros

      St Vincent's provides needed charity care to the community. They USED to take good care of their employees through compensation, promotion and recognition. Things have changed with the new CEO and no one is more important than him. Now employees are afraid to do anything extra for patients, families or other employees. Best to just do your job and leave for the day.

      Cons

      You are not respected or rewarded for your experience. The longer you stay and the better you perform, the better chance they will find someone less experienced (and less expensive) to replace you. Watch your back. Enjoy your work, but know it is NOT important to management that you are a hard worker. You ARE replaceable. No security in this job.

      Pros

      The hospital pays more than most places in the area for a similar job and they have excellent benefits. The health, dental, & vision is so cheap compared to other doctors offices I've worked for, and all benefits are available to part-time employees as well. The hospital also offers free life & disability insurance, with the option to purchase additional coverage for pennies (literally).

      Cons

      I don't believe every department is the same, but the management in Patient Accounts is a joke. They don't motivate their employees, there is no clear line of authority or any idea of whom to report to for questions. They make last minute schedule decisions and offer little help in getting time off, even though they employ on-call people. There is also no real career growth ability or opportunity for advancement.
