Pros

Work life balance is the number one reason to work at Amex. Secondly its a great place to start your career, its a great training ground full of free resources and information for learning critical business skills.

Cons

You have to play the game. Everybody talks fluff and you have to play along. People do not like constructive confrontation or debate of any sort. Things take forever to get completed - so much red tape. Getting promoted can be hard. You must have a solid network of people that will vouch for you. Its all about who you know.

Pros

The work in the Technologies division is not demanding, so if you want a cush job this could be it. The pay and benefits are probably above market.

Cons

You will run into colleagues on a daily basis who are just there to punch a clock. Most employees are mediocre and unmotivated. There is a ton of dead weight. The work is boring, and ideas to spark things aren’t encouraged. If you want excitement in your job, avoid this place.

Pros

The flexible work arrangements is one of the best parts of working here. Alot of people cant take advantage of them though, so Im not sure if other groups are as flexible as mine. Everyone is pretty polite and easy to get a long with. No cursing or hostile banking environments..

Cons

very polictical and very slow to get things done. Everything needs to get approved by someone at a higher level and higher level and so on. To get anything accomplished or pushed through takes a very long time and everyone needs to have their say. Its very consensus focused. Not a driving organization.
