Cons

My time at Amazon turned out to be far more difficult and disappointing than I expected. One of the issues that affected me the most was how upper management interacted with employees, especially women. On several occasions, I was asked personal questions such as whether I had a boyfriend or if I planned to become a mother. These conversations made me deeply uncomfortable and felt completely inappropriate for a professional environment. Another major problem was the lack of transparent communication. Expectations, goals, and priorities were often unclear or constantly shifting, leaving many of us unsure of what was actually required. This lack of structure added unnecessary pressure and made the daily workflow far more stressful than it needed to be. In many cases, team managers were the only ones making an effort to maintain some level of positivity. When upper management visited our sites, they rarely provided constructive or actionable feedback. Instead of offering support or guidance, they often reacted defensively when employees expressed concerns or negative experiences. This made it difficult to have open discussions or trust that leadership was genuinely interested in improving anything. There was also a recurring tendency to place employees on improvement plans without clear explanations or meaningful support. These plans did not seem designed to help people grow; instead, they created uncertainty and a sense of instability among employees. Overall, my experience was shaped by poor communication, unprofessional behavior from upper management, and a work culture that failed to make employees feel respected or safe. I would not recommend working here unless significant changes are made.

Pros

Having a job / Being employed

Cons

Actively trying to make employees quit since 2022: layoffs, RTO 3, RTO 5, making harder to be a manager, impossible to promote to L7, people leaving not being replaced
