Pros

Fairly easy job if you are naturally good with people or excel in customer service. Seniority eventually allows you weekends off consistently. Competitive hourly wage Great Discounts

Cons

Management will critique every move you make. God forbid you not ask an 88 year old woman if she owns a small business. Written documentation of every mistake that is witnessed. They do this so that if you are on thin ice with them they’ll have enough ammunition to fire you. Ever-changing comp plans with lower payouts and higher sales metrics.

Pros

$10/mo for DirecTV or DirecTV now best package 50% off Uverse and AT&T Wireless service

Cons

You are a slave without a voice. This is management nearly every day: “Shut up, be off the lot within 15 minutes. Get out there and take care of all the customers that we’ve booked for today. You guys will be working about 10-12 hours a day installing service on our copper that’s been rotting since the 1960s. Your customers better not call tech support within 30 days because of their slow and decrepit service or you’ll be written up. Also, make sure they take the survey, that’s only about YOU, so that we can advertise to everyone else that AT&T as a whole is a nationally loved company. Burn in the scorching heat and freeze in the frigid winter, don’t idle in our trucks because the EPA will fine us if our employees try to avoid heat stroke and/or frost bite. Kiss your family goodbye, since you’re working 10-12 hours a day, let me add that you can only use your personal phone during your 1 hour lunch period. I know what you’re thinking, no, we don’t care that your family was asleep when you left the house this morning and sleep when you get home. If you don’t like it, go work at McDonalds.”

Pros

Great benefits, Union job, brilliant technicians

Cons

Managers can range from super cool to downright vindictive, job security is not ensured regardless of individual value to the company. Layoffs are unpredictable and are based on seniority.
