Pros

I worked for DirecTV for three years. It promoted an engaging culture that made it fun to come to work everyday. Leadership really listened to the employees to help drive change throughout the company.

Cons

I left after receiving my retention bonus because AT&T is driving everything down. The current AT&T employees were hopeful that DirecTV would help change their culture, but in fact, the opposite happened. AT&T only looks at employees as a number, and they are quickly offshoring everything that was great at DirecTV. It's only a matter of time until they start losing subscribers. I am very happy that I no longer work here.

Pros

Stable company with opportunities to gain experience in multiple parts of the industry. Great training and mentoring programs. "Best 1st and 3rd job you'll ever have"

Cons

There is so much bureaucracy that effecting significant change is difficult at the lower levels. Too many management personnel are concerned with their careers and do not effectively communicate necessary "negative" information up the chain of command, so leadership never learns about issues that might be easy to resolve. Depending on the organization in which someone works, the work life balance can be awful. AT&T demands quite a bit out of their employees.
