Pros

The base pay is good and the incremental pay raises you get (yearly) can add up quickly. Overall the commission is fair and rewards you for exceeding your goals. Managers are given generous PTO hours.

Cons

There are several but I’ll try to keep it to the most pertinent: -The work culture is terrible, it is a do-whatever-it-takes to sell a product that in most cases is far inferior to the competition (Directv packages). -You work in a store that sees 4-5 customers a day? You better be able to sell something SUBSTANTIAL to each one of those customers, and if not, then you are labeled as someone who can’t “do the job”. -Educated, articulate, and driven professionals are nothing to AT&T…they prefer a smooth talker who can scam a customer to make them leave with things they did not agree to. If the customer comes back after the buyers remorse period then too bad, they are now customer care’s problem (this was the view of my previous RSM). -There is a massive issue from the top-down of area managers (and above) using unethical practices to simply try to get people to quit. If they don’t quit, then they WILL find a reason to terminate your employment.

Pros

Many goodies. Good location, nice building, some good benefits, good uplifts for nightshifts and overtimes, friendly colleagues, mostly kind managers, good for an entry level job, quick promotions, good money (in the nights).

Cons

Huge corporation - biggest telecommunications company in the world. Calls and callers are intense and plenty throughout the day. Work - life balance? Forget about it, you 'll get to choose between irregular shifts and night shifts. American customers are mostly easy to deal with but some of them can be a big pain. Eventually the job will burn you out at some point. Big fluctuation of employees, all of them are kind people but it can be irritating to have to be kind all day long - especially when having a break after dealing with a dozen of yelling customers. A lot of strange people too. Prepare to clean your desk yourself, they will "ask" you to do it, as the cleaning service won't do it and you will be sharing the terminal with a colleague from the next shift. Procedures : You have a card and you swipe it 50 times a day, going to toilet requires an aux code, The tools offered to the agent are great and you can really make a difference on each job case if you want to - but some days nothing will work. Metrics! You will have to compete by showing your skills through performance. Honestly, it is monkey work. Even if you get on board with the best intentions, eventually you will either get promoted or burned out. Oh and also don't forget to prepare yourself to be soul-sacked.

Pros

Name recognition. Innovative products. A cutting edge company that has always lead the way but it has lost its own way somewhere between iPhone exclusivity loss and Directv. You don’t have to be the biggest to be the best, word of mouth and happy employees speak louder than a free Apple TV or HBO

Cons

Almost everything now days. The oldest company in America used to treat employees like family, now it’s like take it or leave it...everyone’s replaceable. No, we are not!
