Don't work for them

Pros

At a push, the discount cards. Pay is okay compared to some other supermarkets but not enough to be worth your time. Some opportunities to move into different departments or up in the ladder but only if your liked, not necessarily good at the job.

Cons

Management don't have a clue what they're doing, sometimes shifts within your department are led by people who are not members of management. It's happened to me and i've only worked there for several months. They place no value on their staff whatsoever and treat you terribly when you have one sick day once in a blue moon. Absolutely horrendous place to work and they expect some shifts to start at 3/4am. Cannot wait to leave.

Pros

- Work is relatively straightforward, if a little stressful at times. - Usually a very good team environment with those on your level (plus supervisors or team leads) - Decent pay - Uniforms are provided for you - Give back to the community through fundraising and events. - Free parking permit

Cons

- Left alone on self-scan to man 16 machines alone during peak times, even when store policy dictated 1 person per 8 machines. - Management can be very condescending and exhibit superiority complexes alongside the fact that they're unaware of issues on the shop floor - Shift work isn't regular unless you have it in your contract, which is rare - Managerial support is a joke - Employ many students to work but get irritated when they put their degree first. Not very understanding of university workloads.
