Pros

It pays. (Just). The other team members.

Cons

Family members get promoted over better deserving members. Management and Section Leaders always abusing positions such as disappearing for cigarettes. Management can't do rotas, never on shop floor. All blame put on colleagues if things go wrong.

Pros

Friendly colleagues Staff discount is handy Very good with community projects Flexible with hours Standards are high, which shows in presentation

Cons

Managers were promoted too quickly, don't have enough experience to be telling others what to do It's got an "if your face fits" mentality My store had a terrible male-to-female balance, only 5 of the 31 section leaders were female, no female managers Zero progression opportunity since restructure Unrealistic targets Not enough colleagues Very high staff turnover Section leader pay is abysmal for what is expected of them. Most tasks are things the managers couldn't be bothered (but should be) doing. Terrible work life balance. Full time is 38 hours a week, not 50, no one should have to do that.
