Pros

-Managing one of the largest port operations in North America. -Working with the International Longshoremen's Association. -Learning about ship stowage and vessel operations. Precisely how a ship gets loaded and unloaded according to customer and company needs.

Cons

-Working with the International Longshoremen's Association. -Long shifts of 12 hours, night shifts. -Lots of moving parts and departments that don't communicate effectively, resulting in operational slowdowns.
