Pros

I was able to work for AIG for many years. Had some long lasting relationships there. Used to be a stable place to work.

Cons

With all the divisions merging I lost my job because of the company restructure. Portions of my job were sent to Shared Services and given to the Technical Underwriters. It's ashame, I really loved my job.

Pros

More times than not, the people you work with at AIG are always willing to help you when you need it. I had tremendous support and guidance from team members and my direct manager. The starting pay and benefits are competitive. The healthcare and retirement saving options were on industry par as well. Flexible work arrangements and work from home available, depending on the department and the direct manager.

Cons

During my time at AIG, almost 3 years, there were not any cost of living increases or base salary increases for good - excellent performance. This was across the board and affected everyone. The workload and expectations placed on most are unrealistic. Depending on the commute time into your home office, many employees I knew had to work from home on most days due to their workload amount. It was not efficient for them to take time out of their day for their commute into the office. Working from home sounds great but not when you are online from 7 AM - 7 PM+ just to stay afloat.
