I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Workday (München, Bavaria) in May 2022
Interview
Overall interview process took 4 weeks. Got a call from the recruiter after applying in LinkedIn. Overall it was an average interview. Felt well prepared after each round. HR was quick and responsive in answering all the questions.
Interview questions [2]
Question 1
First round with HR for discussing suitability for the applied role. Then a second 1:1 round with Hiring manager. Third technical round involving two interviewers for OOD UML Design round. Following day got a mail from HR saying technical round feedback is good and proceed to go with Panel interview. It involved 2.5 hours of schedule. Initial 30 minutes with an Engineer explaining XPresso tech stack. Followed by an hour of Architectural round, then final round involving 2:1 with behavioral rounds.
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Workday in Jan 2022
Interview
The software developer role includes 2 live interviews. The first is a technical interview where they present an UML diagram and ask you to make improvements to the diagram. I highly recommend communicating your thoughts clearly to ensure the assumptions you make are valid.
Note that the software development intern role is entirely different and uses the traditional data structures and algorithms whiteboard coding interview as the technical round.
Both roles use a behavioral interview for the 2nd round. The bar for this interview was VERY low. If you passed the first interview and did not lie on your resume, this one will likely be a piece of cake.
I have a suspicion that Workday does not know how to manage their interview process. The respond time for emails is fairly slow in comparison to other companies. They take a while to schedule an interview for upcoming applicants. Although I sent my applications out in the same general time frame, I already received 6 internship offers from other companies. I highly recommend Workday to identify bottlenecks in their system and optimize it. They are loosing top talent to competitors.
