I applied online. I interviewed at UserTesting in Feb 2022
Interview
Standard interview process with screening, pair programming with director (very easy - you just talk through it and the interviewer codes for you), 2 standard pair programming rounds and a final hiring manager interview. Technical questions and pair programming was very easy, just focus on OOP principles.
Every one of the interviewers were super kind and helpful but the recruiter was extremely rude and disrespectful. Often showed up late (15min late during the initial screening) and would cut me off mid-sentence. Also frequently said they would “end this process and keep in touch for future opportunities” in a condescending manner to pressure me to make a decision faster/move up starting date/as a negotiation tactic.
It’s a shame because I was choosing between two offers and decided to go with the other offer instead of UserTesting because of how negative my application experience was.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at UserTesting (Toronto, ON) in Oct 2021
Interview
The recruiter reached out online and invited me to make the selective process. I started with the HR call. Then the second interview was with 2 other engineers. They were very friendly and guided me through the process. It was a collaborative code section. Then I got invited to the final rounds. 2 technical interviews using TDD and one with the hiring manager. They contacted me very fast about the result. I got an offer.

Question 1
Tell me about yourself, what would you do if you notice that your system was too slow, tell me about a time when you had a problem with a college or with a process
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at UserTesting
Interview
The process took a few weeks.
- Started with a recruiter call. Even though they found out they can't reach my pay grade, they wanted to proceed with my candidacy (making me think they will get somewhat closer to it).
- First technical round: kid stuff (just know some OO basics)
- Second technical round: kid stuff (basic Javascript questions)
- Culture fit round: some interviewees creeped me out during this round (immediate rejection on my end).
- Meet with the manager. Never seen candidates gets this level in other companies got rejected.
