I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Upwork (Madrid) in Jun 2022
Interview
There were 3 interview stages. At beginning I was introduced to the company what they expect from this position. At the end I was provided with detailed feedback on each interview stage
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Upwork (Seattle, WA) in Mar 2023
Interview
Initial interview was with a recruiter, actually two. They were responsive and nice to talk to. Next interview was with the Content Design Manager. Great woman, thought we really hit it off, which led to a panel interview and portfolio presentation. Although they prep you for the STAR format interview, it was not that. I ALSO thought that went well...but I had another offer on the table, so I openly told the recruiting team my situation. GHOSTED. Crickets after that. Followed up. Nothing. Then got the email that "after careful consideration, we've decided to not move forward with your resume" which completely confused me...because we were way past that. Unprofessional and disrespectful.

Question 1
Walk me through a difficult information architecure.
Received an email to book my 30 min internal recruiter phone screen days in advance. Received my call day of and recruiter goes on the typical spiel of how the conversation is going to with her explaining the company and role and me talking to my experience.
Then the conversation took an odd turn. Recruiter tells me the job requirements as listed within the
posting weren’t really accurate. Whoever posted this didn’t put in the MAIN job requirement asking if I had that experience. Let’s break this down a bit more.
The main job requirement wasn’t in the JD but you have a copy of my resume. Why not take the time to review it see if that experience is listed and send me an email to confirm before wasting my time for a call that I took time away from my FT job to take for this phone screen.
Further, they then said they’d confirm again with the hiring manager what exactly they were looking for with the position requirements then get back to me. Again, why was this not confirmed before the phone screen. They then asked my salary expectations for the role. Seriously? How do you expect me to give my salary expectations for a role that for one you never even went over with me and may be a different role in its entirety than what I applied for.
Overall pretty poor experience.
