I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at TikTok
Interview
After 4 individual PM interviews, TikTok simply ghosted me. No follow-up, no feedback, not even an automated rejection. Everyone I interviewed with at TikTok (including the recruiter) has once interviewed for their own position and knows that each interview takes several hours or days to prepare for. After that investment of time from the candidate, not following up at all is extremely disrespectful. I can't wait for the tide to turn so high tech companies are once again forced to mind their manners during recruiting.
I applied online. I interviewed at TikTok (Londres, Inglaterra)
Interview
It was a pretty standard process after submitting my resume: A phone screen with HR/recruitment followed by round 1 , 2 and 3 with product and relevant stakeholders. The role seemed to be in London but the interview was done by folk who were in other locations.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Some scenarios to talk through and explain prior experience building product. It was a role for their seller platform but wanted someone who could extract data from it to build additional data products. Though they had my resume and were aware I work in B2B, they ended up wanting someone with prior B2C experience.. which was a shame and waste of time.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at TikTok (San Francisco, CA) in Apr 2023
Interview
Got a referral via someone on Blind. Was approached by recruiter in 4 days. Recruiter call was pretty straightforward, just background etc. After that there was a call with hiring manager. This covered a lot of "background" questions, like what had I worked on before etc. Finally there was a set of interviews. Most of them had some behavioral questions. Some of them were about past projects which felt like a repeat. Some involved theoretical scenarios like what I would improve or how I would prioritize. To prepare, my recommendation is 1. Think a lot about your resume. Any line is fair game where hiring manager can ask a question about it. I got asked about something I did like 6 years ago. 2. Prepare a few ideas around tiktok, the product, competition, what features you would improve etc. 3. Prepare for theoretical product questions like "How do you prioritize between tech and features". 4. For practice, I used prepfully and exponent. They had some coaches who have previously worked at TikTok so they gave good advice. 5. Some interviewers are a bit abrupt. I think it is their style of interviewing. It was a bit unpleasant, but I didn't get phased by it. Eventually received an offer but got a better one from Pinterest \m/ so accepted that.
