I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Target (Miami, FL) in Dec 2007
Interview
Personally, my first interview was with the district manager. There was no interview guide and it was a very relaxed atmosphere. The interview was focused on explaining the store hierarchy and what the different positions in the store do. He then went on to talk about leadership and what it means to different people. Ultimately, what he was looking for is your definition of leadership and if it fits with their vision. After that, he scheduled me for a round of interviews the next day. Some executives get a phone interview first and then they are scheduled for the round of interviews.
The round of interviews consists of 3 interviews. They are performed by 3 store managers. Each interview has its own interview guide and it is more formal. The interview guides are based on evaluating different qualities of leadership. The one question all the store managers ask about you is if you can run a store and if they would work for you? That means if they would enjoy having you as there boss.
After this, you get an invitation to take a personality test online. Sometimes the test is before the phone interview. If everything goes well, you will receive a call with an offer.

Question 1
Tell me about a time that you had to assume responsability for something that you did wrong?
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Target (San Diego, CA) in Feb 2007
Interview
Target's hiring process consists of numerous situational based interviews to challenge one's leadership potential. The process began with a phone interview with a campus recruiter which led to an invitation to take a personality assessment and skills test. The skills test was extremely tedious and we were asked to not use a calculator. I would suggest that one would use one if one's math skills are sub-par. Then I went to a store and interviewed with two target executives. After this interview I was contacted two weeks later to interview with another three target executives. At this point, you are brought into a store, complete a store tour, and are with a group of 8-20 individuals and are called in one at a time to interview with three separate individuals.
