I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Starbucks in Nov 2009
Interview
Starbucks interviews are essentially behavioral based questions. You'll be asked about the first time you stepped into a Starbucks store, various customer service scenarios, and why you want the job. Speak clearly, go into details. If you answer one of the questions with two or three words, that is not good.

Question 1
Honestly none of the questions were difficult. They were all behavioral based.
Very casual and friendly. At the time I was hired the company was building more stores and needed Shift Supervisors. I interviewed w/ one Store Manager, then another and then another,,,and met with the District Manager (after being hired) at the training, which lasted six weeks.

Question 1
"Give an example of how you satisfied a customer situation or how you exhibited good customer service?"
I put in an application online and made sure to contact the store manager to show my desire for the job. I received a call from him and went in for an interview. He asked me a lot of situational questions like what I would do in certain situation.
