I had a recruiter reach out to me to discuss potential positions. I wasn't interested at the time due to a current position, however, I obliged under the preface that it was certainly something I'd be keen to explore in the future. We had a few conversations over a period of time and all of them were positive and eluded towards moving forward so that when I was ready to move, we were in a good place. Immediately following our most recent chat, I was advised that I'd be put in touch with someone at a high level. I then did not hear back from the recruiter for about a month, and the conversations following this were very sporadic and inconsistent. For a company that focuses on communication, I certainly had higher expectations.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Slack (Vancouver, BC) in Feb 2021
Interview
Took 3 weeks.
First a phone call then one on sote and after that, a take home excercise.
I don't know if this was worth it, after spending the 3 weeks, thy just ghost you for a bit and then send you a generic "thank you" email and never talk to you again
You can expect:
1. One or two assignments to understand your communication, and ability to answer technical questions
2. Take home coding test (relatively basic compared to a traditional software engineering interview)
3. A somewhat grueling onsite (or these days, a remote Zoom). Expect to be interviewed for around 3 hours straight.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Expect a basic take-home coding assignment to determine your ability to understand the essentials of platform development.
