I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Safelite AutoGlass (Columbus, OH) in Feb 2021
Interview
The initial conversations I had with the team were fine I had 5 separate, 30 minute virtual interviews over the course of a week. In my last interview with someone in HR, they briefly explained the next steps which was called an "assessment" which assesses quick interactions with role playing different scenarios and presentation skills. The next week the assessment was scheduled without being provided additional information. I finally received more information 2 days before my assessment via an email attachment which had a ~25 page business case of a mock company focused to field sales, branding, company/sales structure, revenue/sales information. It was this 25 page business case that I was supposed to assess and create a presentation on. With only 2 days lead time, an extremely detailed business case that was not relevant to my line of work at all, and no indication of the level of preparation needed, I decided to back out. Communication and coordination were severely lacking.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Safelite AutoGlass (Columbus, OH) in Apr 2021
Interview
The hiring manager was bright and energetic. I felt that he would be a great person to work with. The interview was more of a conversation on the types of projects coming up for SafeLite, different ways to approach and execute on the work, and my background and skillset as relevant to the position.
Notably, I got feedback from the company about why they were moving on in their search for candidates. I'm always impressed when the HR/recruiting person is willing to engage with candidates like this. The feedback I got was disappointing, though. I had asked the hiring manager questions about professional skills development and whether SafeLite had made a decision about remote work flexibility post-pandemic. The recruiter advised me that those questions caused them to be concerned that I was too focused on benefits and not focused enough on the position. Frankly, the lack of a serious professional development plan and budget for a data analyst is a big red flag for me. Further, the way a company responds to a candidate asking questions about what a long term career involves reveals a lot about culture.
My unsolicited advice to SafeLite:
- Appreciate the candidates that raise possible deal-breakers early. They are trying to be respectful of your time.
- Professional development is not a benefit. It is an investment in your company's future.
- Be proud of your benefits. A candidate that spends 5 minutes of an interview learning about benefits is a candidate that is seriously considering a long term career with you.
- Expect candidates to be interviewing you back. I came away from this experience feeling like I wasn't desperate enough for the job. Many excellent candidates are perfectly happy where they are, and they are approaching interviews looking to understand if this job would be a good fit for them.

Plenty of process questions, learning about how I've executed and delivered products in the past. Some power Bi/tableau questions, as well.

Interview
Called to interview me for a position I had not applied for, stated the title was changed and that they will be changing the ad. Felt like a bait and switch. Applied for a full time Inventory Specialist position, interviewed for seasonal customer service.
