I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Rippling in Oct 2020
Interview
Recruiter reached out to me and scheduled a technical screen through zoom with a Rippling software engineer. The engineer gave a very brief introduction, then jumped straight into the question. The requirements of the question were vague and ill-suited for someone who is unfamiliar with the rules of chess.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Design a chess engine. How would the game be represented in code? What would the gameplay flow look like? For each piece, how do you check if the player is making a valid move? How do you check if a player's king is in the check position? How do you check if a player's king is in the checkmate position?

I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Rippling
Interview
First there was general discussion with HR, then 3 tech rounds all of which happened as video calls. The HR was nice enough to accommodate my availability. I would try again after sometime.
