Applied through Boston career forum. Applied 1 week before the forum began, receive an OA which is extremely easy anyone who has finished CS 101 can do that. Then receive interview at Boston career forum, no technical questions but just talk about past projects. Interviewers' English was not good. Got rejected the same night.
I applied through college or university. I interviewed at Rakuten (Boston, MA) in Oct 2016
Interview
It was not complicated. But their hiring standards are little bit vague and off-table. You don't really know what they want. Definitely wise to know Japanese, the language, for the best performance of your interview.
The whole process took about 3 months, from application day to getting the letter. The codility questions were very basic, and for the video interview, they provided me with the questions beforehand on the description email, allowing me to prepare the optimal answers.
After that, I was given a chance to do a skype interview with 3 members of the company's headquarters in japan. I felt that the interview was more focused on figuring out if I would fit in to the company, rather than focusing on testing my skills required for the internship. There were very little technical questions throughout the whole interview.
