The process took 2 days. I interviewed at RTX in Sep 2008
Interview
When I arrived at the site, I obtained a security badge and was escorted by my point of contact into the office.I was interviewed by the site manager and one other senior engineer. The interview was mostly behavioral and very "normal". I find the office rather cold in terms of personal relations. Everyone more or less kept to themselves. My supervisor and co-workers are easy to get along with and are easy going folks.
Overall, the people and the culture was ok but the work itself was what drove me to leave the position, it was really just drone work.
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at RTX (Tewksbury, MA) in Feb 2009
Interview
They use an outside company Hireright for the initial background check, this process is a little lengthy and confusing, some info and apps are submitted to your HR contact while some go to Hireright. Theinterview itself included a brief company overview, then I met with several different potential section managers who later did a selection process of which interns they each wanted. Only a very short offer acceptance window after the offer had been made, like a week or two at most.

The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at RTX (Garland, TX) in Feb 2008
Interview
Initial contact was a phone call from the hiring manager expressing interest to conduct initial interview over the phone. During the initial phone interview, the hiring manager provided overview of the team and some of the products/services the team supported. Hiring manager then focused on my past experience, wanting to know what are my perceived strengths and weaknesses. After the initial phone interview, we've exchange few more emails and than I received contact from company HR (talent acquisition) representative to schedule onsite interview.
The onsite interview consists of taking you into a conference room and meeting with a panel of interviewers. In my case I had a panel interview consisted of the manager and the team leads. The onsite panel interview had more emphasis on skills and scenario based problem solving questions. Another aspect of the interview was how motivated I am regarding to the position. My enthusiasm and response to questions like "why do you want to leave your current job" to "what do you see yourself in 5 years" hinted to me that they wanted to see if someone can readily adjust to the unique working culture at this business site.
