I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Prudential
Interview
Telephone screen with the recruiter. She was very nice, it was a positive conversation. I was glad I had prepared for the interview, her questions were closely related to the job description. She followed up as promised. I was not moved onto an inperson interview -- she told me there were many qualified canidates.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at Prudential
Interview
The process was unbelievably unorganized and unprofessional. The lack of follow through in their process is terrible. You don’t treat candidates like that. I had a screening call with the recruiter then a 1:1 with the hiring manager. Didn’t hear back for 2 months. Got a random call from the recruiter who totally butchered my name and completely stamered on my voicemail with an update. I wasn’t going to return the call as I had completely forgotten about the position and I know they were still looking for a pool of candidates since the position was still posted. It just so happens from the conversation that they hired an internal candidate. Why waste my time calling me? At that moment I would’ve been happier with an automated rejection email.
Interviewed with multiple people on the team. It was a little weird because one interview was a panel interview, with 4 people interviewing me at one time. During the entire interaction the team was really weird they strictly stuck to basic questions and didn't really show any personality or indication that this was a enjoyable place to work. It was clear to see they were unprepared and were just making up questions on the fly. I still left the interview pretty confident as I interviewed well and had more experience then the people interviewing me
After the meeting heard nothing back for 3 weeks. Followed up with the recruiter out of curiosity to see where I stood, she took over a week to get back to me to say I was still in consideration. A few weeks go by and I hear nothing so I move forward with another opportunity. Almost a month and a half later the recruiter reaches out to let me know someone else was selected.
I believe they were keeping me as a back-up choice in case their first choice fell through. At this point I had already moved forward with another role but this was a less than ideal experience. From the bad interviewers, lack of preparation to the long wait times to get feedback this was the worst experience I have ever had with interviews. Hope they can get their act together and improve the interview experience/ process
