      Director, Marketing Operations Interview

      Feb 24, 2019

      No offer
      Neutral experience

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 7 months. I interviewed at Perk (Barcelona) in Aug 2018

      Interview

Over the course of more than 6 months, I interviewed for 3 different jobs at TravelPerk— resulting in no offer. It began with a call screening with someone in HR, followed by a video chat with whom I'd be reporting to, followed by an assignment and another video chat with the same person. Then they flew me in for a full-day, in-person interview with about 5 different stakeholders. The original role was changed into another role, which I was asked to interview for, involving another assessment assignment and a video chat. Then the role changes again and I was asked to interview for the 3rd role, which involved another assessment assignment and a video chat. Throughout, the later part of this process (the changing roles) I was told an offer was imminent 'we're only following formalities,' I was a 'great cultural fit,' and would 'add immediate value to the team.' I got the impression that a cultural fit is very important to the hiring process. I appreciate that. Overall, though, I'd say TravelPerk doesn't currently know what they are looking for in their marketing department. Not great for a funded startup in a growth phase. Pressure is on. Executing on ideas is pertinent.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Depends on the role. But all three I interviewed for were in marketing, so involved competency assignments in each respective discipline: Demand Generation, Growth Marketing, and Marketing Operations. HR related questions (personality, goals, etc.) were straight forward, friendly and pleasant. I've never written an interview review before. Listing all questions asked seems excessive given the lengthly process I've described above.

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your experience. Apologies that you had a long and eventually unsuccessful application. We have to make sure that we get the right person for the right job. What is the "right job" can change at an organization like ours in a short period of time, and 7 months is certainly enough time for requirements and responsibilities to shift. We wish you the best.
