I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at IBM (Kuala Lumpur) in Oct 2015
Interview
I have a M.Sc from top 20 university according to THE.
I have had 2 interviews with this company.
1. 2013, I applied myself. I asked for a humbling RM3K, IBM offered RM2.8K, but another private company offered RM3.5K as starting salary.
2. 2015, IBM internal headhunters approached me. My salary that time was RM8K and I have joined another company for almost half a year that time. As soon as the HR learned about it, without asking my expected salary first, the HR then proposed to me to join them without any bump in the benefits or salary, asking me to consider the IBM brand. I said no and stated RM12K as companies from Singapore were offering me that sum. The HR then asked me to go for interview first and would discuss this later. Passed the interview with flying colours and we gotten to salary negotiation. I told the HR I had been receiving offers and I knew about my market value. The HR then cried foul, saying that my asking salary is UNFAIR TO OTHERS. Of course, without a doubt I have taken the offer from Singapore. I mean, blame yourself for not studying harder when younger but don't blame others for faring better through their hard work right?
Now I am in Singapore, making above average income, with Free lunches, goodies packed pantry, discounted mobile rates, office that oversees some of the best views in the country, very smart colleagues but not some outdated hags. Met some ex-IBM here too. Had a chat, and I am more than convinced that IBM (Asia-Pacific) is an utter waste of time.
