I applied online. I interviewed at Hearst (Boston, MA) in May 2024
Interview
Very comfortable and direct about what my duties will entail up-front. Asked relevant questions and asked for more material from my portfolio. I asked questions about their experience in the field, advice and talked about why specifically this internship meant a lot to me.
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Hearst (New York, NY) in Mar 2022
Interview
Applying online was easy, and the response was directly from the senior editor, with a warm exchange in general. A key takeaway from the interview was the feeling of immense burnout among the editors interviewing me, It did not seem like they wanted to be there nor did they seem enthused by their own work, much less the role they are trying to fill. Basic questioning and easy interview.
