I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Hearst (New York, NY) in Sep 2020
Interview
Recruiter contacted me about a specific role, then after the initial phone screen followed up and said I was actually being considered for multiple roles. I explicitly discouraged exploring the other roles, and was told my follow-up interview would be with a hiring manager for the role I was most interested in. Nevertheless, my next interview paired me with someone hiring for a position that was not relevant to my experience.
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Hearst in Jan 2022
Interview
Interview was easy, the HR person I spoke with during the phone screen was fantastic. The interviewer during the first round could not have been less interested in doing an interview and made me feel like I was wasting her time. I was then ghosted by the company after, they could have at least been professional and let me know they wouldn't be moving forward.

I applied online. I interviewed at Hearst (Albany, NY) in Nov 2020
Interview
I met with a publisher over Zoom for lengthy interviews. She picked my brain for reporting ideas and info on other local outlets. Submitted multiple story pitches. This took place from mid November and finally ended in late January. So I had the added stress of waiting for an answer over the holidays.
