I applied online and got a call the next morning to do a phone interview. Very basic questions like, why did you choose FDM, where do you see yourself in 5 years? Right on the spot, they told me to come in for an assessment day the same week. The assessment test was very basic math questions, logic, and set notation. Not bad for me since I have a math background. There was also basic programming questions which should be no problem if you've been introduced to it before. Then, you have 1-on-1 interviews with people from sales/technical, not long, just about 5 minutes, so they can assess who you are/will you fit in. Overall easy interview!
The first interview was a telephone interview asking general questions, for example. What did you study? What skills do you have that will be suitable for the role? Why FDM? Why IT? It was a short interview no more than 10 minutes.
I applied online. I interviewed at FDM Group (Toronto, ON)
Interview
Initially applied through their website under the Graduate Program. I received a phone call a month later asking me if I was still interested and if she can book a short phone interview (15 min) in a couple days.
I received the phone interview a couple days later, which lasted about 10-15 minutes, and was asked questions mostly about their company and a bit about myself. Phone call was mostly about her explaining to me about their company and the next steps if I passed the phone interview.
Next I I got invited to the assessment day a day after. When I got there, there was a group of us waiting to be interviewed. First half was just them talking about the company and us introducing ourselves. Then came the 1 hour technical/logic test. Most questions were pretty simple and it involved some computer knowledge, basic math, logical knowledge, flowcharts, and regular expressions questions. Know about programming arrays and loops and how they work (IF, ELSE, WHILE) because they have a programming question where you determine the final value of a variable after it has gone through the loop. After, they do the 1-on-1 interview. They judge you on 6 criteria, which are:
- Verbal communication
- Written communication
- Commercial awareness
- Teamwork skills
- Logical thinking
- Technical aptitude
Overall, it wasn't too bad but took longer than expected.
