I applied through other source. I interviewed at ByteDance
Interview
Recruiter reached out about a on-site position which I had let her know I’m not near the city where their office is in and asked if they’d consider remote. She had let me know we can “find a solution about this issue in further communication”. I spoke to the the hiring manager next who had no idea the recruiter had put me forward as a candidate even though I was not local to their office. Didn’t hear back for over 2 weeks after following up twice and the recruiter told me the position is closed. What does that even mean? I asked her for additional details and feedback and got ghosted of course.
They were not serious about hiring b/c they didn't ask me a single question about myself or my experience. Instead, they asked about insights into the US market for 2+ hours before rejecting me. They just want to use these interviews as a way to collect intel on the US.
