I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Best Buy (Columbus, OH)
Interview
I filled out the online application and attempted to talk to the hiring manager in-store as a follow up. She was busy, but called me back after a few hours. I came in to interview the next day, but was interviewed by a department manager instead of the hiring manager. The interview went well, but I did not hear back for several weeks until I was asked to come in for an interview with the general manager. I was offered the job on the spot, and the second interview quickly felt like a formality, as the manager spent more time training me than asking me questions. I was made to take a drug test, and started my training just days after a good result.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
I was mostly asked questions about how I handled certain situations in previous jobs; When I had to overcome an obstacle with a team, when I had to sell something to a customer, etc. No questions were unusually hard in comparison to other retail jobs, and the interviewers seemed more interested in what my responses showed about my personality than my experiences.
I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Best Buy (Bellevue, WA) in Oct 2014
Interview
Best Buy has a cumbersome and clunky interview process. I applied for a FULL time position they had posted on their Careers web site. Come to find out in a "meet and greet" that the General Manager says he does not hire anyone in at full time. Why the full time posting? I think is quite dishonest on the part of Best Buy. Communication is very bad. Try calling Best Buy to speak to the necessary person during the process and you'll get recordings to wade through and maybe be able to leave a voice mail for someone who will never call you back.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
None. Any question they ask you should be able to answer to their satisfaction. This is not rocket science. It's retail where the customers know at least as much as the associates.
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Best Buy (St. Catharines, ON) in Aug 2011
Interview
Was in a very noisy environment. Some of the staff were walking around and making jokes with the interviewer. Kind of nerve racking maybe for some people. The questions were very easy and only required you to standardly answer them. Nothing too special about the interview.
