I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at AT&T (Baton Rouge, LA) in Jan 2010
Interview
There was a phone interview, a interview with a hiring manager and then with the store manager. Followed by a background check and drug screen. No other drug screens have been given after two years of employment.

Question 1
Tell me about a time you dealt with an upset customer? What was the situation, the task, the action you took to resolve the issue and the results?

Interview
Initial interview with hiring manager, fairly thorough, second interview is a realistic job training and interview with a particular store manager. You follow someone of the same job title as which you are applying and observe a transaction. Fairly simple as well. Interviewers showed professionalism and excellent communication skills. Replied promptly to all queries etc etc.

Interview
I was screened by a recruiter, and then was invited to the HR office for a second interview. The woman who interviewed me painted the job horribly -- she said I would be put in a boring location and would do mundane work and would not move up in the company fast at all and then asked me how come I wanted the job. Now I understand that she was placing some pressure on me as I was slightly overqualified for the role and she didn't want to extend an offer that would be rejected, but the tone of the interview was so adversarial that I told her bluntly that I did not want the job that bad after all and that I would like to cut the interview short and withdraw my application. Really bad interview experience, and confirms what people were telling me about working for AT&T.
