Dear Glassdoor member, We are happy to read that you feel well with our corporate culture and appreciate our nice working environment, good work life balance as well as nice colleagues and flexible working possibilities. However, we are really sorry to read, that you would not recommend our company further. We are continuously working on further development activities concerning our company-wide communication, which remains a high priority goal. Our career paths and training possibilities are created in alignment with the departments and we will soon introduce new career paths as well as an improved career path process. It is our focus to provide effective and essential training possibilities. Therefore we evaluate training needs from the yearly staff appraisals and will also continue in improving this process. Pros

Compensation and benefits are fair but nothing about OSRAM is better than average.

Cons

The entire company is micromanaged by Germany. The Germans have no vision, strategy or leadership, they CONTROL the company and know no better. They are copying the current strategy of Philips by carving out a portion of the business which is reportedly going to be sold to one of several Chinese companies. The company is overloaded with lifers who are terrified of losing their jobs and they keep their job knowledge to themselves. The company lacks vitality, energy and enthusiasm. There is nothing worthwhile here for people under 40 years old.

Pros

OSRAM allows flexible work arrangements which can be taken advantage of if your manager approves. The new building that is going to be located in Wilmington is supposed to be state-of-the-art and bring better working conditions.

Cons

OSRAM has gone through substantial changes in the past couple of years. It is not the place that it used to be. The headquarters building is empty (in comparison to past) and the tone is a bit depressing. High stress environment.
