Pros

Working on latest technology development, which is quite challenging and interesting.

Cons

Lost our main customer / business. Yet to secure new business. Not looking good for the next few years. Potential plant closure. Scapegoating exercise whenever there is a screw up. Even top managements are not spared. Retrenchment and cost cutting in all departments including RnD dept. If a tech company is not investing in RnD, how can we move forward and be the market leader once again? In 2021, Engineers and below did not received any variable bonus, only a fixed amount of profit sharing regardless of their 2020 performance. Those who work hard for the past 1 year will get the exact same reward as those who slacks / with lesser responsibility.

Getting desperate

Pros

You can work/slack from home if you can give some excuse to work remotely in Malaysia due to covid. Already for more than a year.

Cons

Almost certain on massive retrenchment world wide due to purchase of osram. Compulsory shut down to reduce cost to reduce loss. Huge debts and unable to be reduce long term cost. Rumoured lost many significant sales. High reliance on one key customer. Potentially losing key customer due to debt and no longer profitable. I would expect losing all area sales overtime.

Dear colleague, Thank you for taking the time to review your position and ams as an employer. I am sorry to hear that you are not satisfied with the current situation and the integration with OSRAM and that this change also causes you concern. Nevertheless, we see a bright future by combining the complementary portfolios of ams and OSRAM, creating a global leader in the growing market of optical solutions. I hope that in time you will also gain trust in the transition, but in the meantime, we will always be open to suggestions for improvement: katrin.klug-jud@ams.com Kind regards, Katrin Klug-Jud HR Communication/ Social Media Manager

Pros

Two pros. Firstly, 6% 401k match. Secondly, the work/life balance was good. No one was working. Why? There was absolutely no accountability. I could literally have left at noon every day without repercussion.

Cons

Holy crap! This company is a real dumpster fire. I feel sad because I'm sure plenty of folks work here and just don't know that there is something better on the other side of the fence. I worked at a company Osram acquired and got to see the slow deterioration of leadership, culture, benefits, etc. after the acquisition. Firstly, Osram brought in the most incompetent leadership I've ever witnessed in my entire life. These people were seriously old-school in a frightening and embarrassing way. They lived, breathed and died spreadsheets and sports metaphors. Their understanding of tech was abysmal but their hubris was infinite. They also had poor emotional control. The CEO, for example, once screamed "I know every one thinks you're smarter than me!" at one of the cofounders of the original company and then stomped out of the room after he was questioned about a product decision. Everyone hated him. In fact, the entire Osram C-level suite was pretty much despised by the people on the floor, who were not originally Osram employees. The culture was also heinous. Osram's idea of boosting morale was posting giant, uninspired graphics that said things like "Teamwork, Diversity, Integrity" in crappy font over a pie chart. They put up maybe 5 of these around the office - all the same poster. They were torn down in a matter of days. And that's it. That's the only cultural initiative I ever saw made by Osram in my two years working under them. And finally, the benefits. Worst benefits of my life!!!!! No bonus. High deductible crappy healthcare, which is frankly unethical in the US.I did mention 401k match above and I'll give them credit there - that was pretty good. But man, everything else absolutely blew. We were paid well below market. Asking for a raise was like pulling teeth. Finally, in order to access any of our benefits, we had to navigate through poorly designed 90's style company portals. Looking up anything - paystubs, remaining vacation, etc. - involved combing through this archaic monolith of a website. As a web dev, it just about killed me.

Dear colleague, Your feed-back is important to us. It appears that you were hired during an OSRAM acquisition of a start-up in the Seaport Boston area. Over the past few years, OSRAM successfully acquired several companies; some in the start-up stage. Such transactions require cultural adjustments from both sides. In general, a start-up environment could be by nature more liberal. Factually, our Company was awarded the Top Employer Certification for the second year in a row. Our employees are ambassadors of change. In closing, we wish you continued success in your future endeavors and fulfilment. Best regards, Sarah Lucas sarah.lucas@osram.com
