      Building momentum in General Insurance

      Pros

      I work in shared services for the General Insurance business: + Smallish company so good access to senior management - if you have an idea for improvement you can get it to the right person + New General Insurance CEO starting soon which will help build momentum. + Group CEO (Mario Greco) has strong vision and wants to make company simpler and more innovative. + Easy to stand out and move through the ranks if you are capable and have a positive attitude + Ethical and people here care about doing the right thing by customers. + Good work life balance - flex work policies and 'dress for your day' + Bonus scheme seems generous

      Cons

      - Some employees who have been around for a long time resistant to change - Red tape and policies although they are trying to change - Some managers are great but some are poor

      Can and should do better

      Pros

      The pension is great - 12% flat without any contribution 3 volunteering days per year People are nice Some exceptionally great people to work with

      Cons

      Salary is miserable Career progression is very slow Top talent leaving in droves No standard management practice - most managers don't care about career development and there is some shocking management practice Well-being of employees not a priority Hours are extremely long and no one ever mentions overtime or other things Middle management doesn't know where they are going and what they are doing UK CEO looks nice but clearly doesn't know what is happening in the company Secretive when it comes to filling vacancies and promotions

      Totally speckled not uniform work environment

      Pros

      You are very lucky if you are assigned to the team of professionals (there are many of them in ZI, especially in HQ) who 15+ years with Zurich. Projects are well funded.

      Cons

      Some departments facing huge personal turnover.
